The airplanes were much more useful by the end of the war and was advanced than when they started the war. Every country had a different design for the planes which made all the planes very special the way they were designed. World War 1 had about 70 different planes in the sky that were flying. From early as July 1915 Germany created a plane called Fokker Scourge. This plane was special because it was the first plane with an "interrupter gear" which meant the machine gun could be fired through the propeller and not hit the blade that is spinning. World War one was the first war to use planes significantly just to attack. By 1917 Britain lost 245 planes within a month. Flying Aces was a reward given to pilots who had at least stricken down five enemy planes in combat. As the war went on and progressed so did the technology used in and on the planes. The planes were much more better by the time World War 2 started.
